Cycle 1 Day 16

Went to bed this morning a little hungry. But lucky for me I was more tired then hungry, I went right to bed. I woke up and felt better that I had not snacked before sleeping. I weighted myself and I am down 10.5 lbs. I feel so much better already. I can't wait for it to get nice outside so I can get some exercise in. (walking and gardening) The only form I have done so far is my mission to get my spring cleaning done before spring. With that mission also comes a mission to downsize my belongings to only items I use or have sentimental meaning. Sometimes lifestyle change takes many different forms, all ending with a happy healthy life!!

I am not going to list my foods as breakfast, lunch and dinner..while on nights. They are all mixed up

Yogurt -morning snack when I got up

Salmon patty served with romaine lettuce and tomato along with some broccoli

I also packed a salmon patty with some of broccoli for tonight at work with my strawberries and red grapes.
I really liked the taste of the salmon patties. I can't wait to try grilling them outside. Oh summer hurry up and get here!!!

Cycle 1 Day 15

Well last night was my first night shift on this 17 day plan. I eat a omelet on my first break (2 am) then when I got up I had my salad. I will eat my fruit and yogurt on my break at work tonight. I don't like a large amount at night...makes me feel very uncomfortable.

Breakfast: Omelet with veggies topped off with some salsa
Lunch: I will eat tonight at work...fruit and yogurt with my olive oil in the yogurt. And a green tea

Dinner: Romaine lettuce with taco turkey meat, reduced fat mozz cheese, salsa, and then I used the cottage cheese instead of sour cream. I gotta say...I didn't even miss the sour cream.

Cycle 1 Day 14

C1D 14 I am down 10 lbs and hubby is down 15. I actually like getting on the scale. Did I just say that? Maybe by summer I can say I actually like trying on swimsuits. A girl can dream right? I can honestly say the only time I find myself hungry is if I stay up late at night...my stomach lets me know it wants something. I just watched a video on YouTube from Dr. Mike, saying this is the time to eat a little protein. So I will try that or just go to bed earlier.
Breakfast: I decided to make a omelet with my new pan I purchased at Bed Bath & Behind. It really does a good job and easy clean up. I made two omelets...one for work tonight...I am a shift worker and I start nights this week. I hope my weight loss continues..its hard to eat at a scheduled time when you days and nights are opposite. Don't you just love the little egg on the pan...puts a smile on my face when I use it...what a better way to start the day!
Breakfast: Omelet-tomato-onions-red pepper-mushroom-spinach topped off with salsa, yogurt and green tea
Snack: Red Grapes
Lunch: I was craving a sandwich. So I used a big romaine lettuce as my bread..added some turkey and tomoates and FF 1000 Island Dressing (that was all I had)  I folded it like taco shell and ENJOYED...I did not even miss the bread. I also cut up a peach...Yum Yum! I also tried my green tea iced...and I gotta say...I like it even better...of course I still had to add the Truvia
Dinner: We tried the riced cauliflower pizza...It needs a little work...I need to use a pizza pan or a stone and to make the crust thicker. Other then that...it tasted GREAT..I could not even tell that it was a cauliflower crust. I felt guilty eating it.

Cycle 1 Day 13

C1D13 Down 9lbs for me and 13.5lbs for hubby

I love weekends, because I can take the time to make my fruit look really pretty. I also tried green tea again...this time adding some truvia to it. I had to add two packets to it to make it something that I could drink. Maybe as I get used to the taste I can cut it down to one packet.  Dr Mike did say that we can use as much truvia as we want. I just don't want to encourage my sweet tooth. I think I will brew a cup and then chill it...and add ice to it...and see if I like it better as a ice beverage
This was my lunch. I made it in right before 2 pm....I was shopping this morning and it went longer then I expected. I did not want to go out to eat for lunch so I waited till I got home.
Dinner: Spinach Salad: Spinach, mushroom, yellow tomatoes, red pepper, cucumber. We added canned chicken(for convenience reasons)...first time trying it...kind of tastes like tuna to me. I made my dressing with my friendly fat: Olive oil, rice vinegar, Dijon mustard with one pkg of truvia

Breakfast : 2 egg omelet with some hot  pico de gallo added to it for some spice, and a yogurt.

Cycle 1 Day 12

If you live on WI...Fridays mean Friday Fish Frys. We usually go out to a place where it is all you eat breaded white fish with fries. And if there is a long wait...that also includes a drink in the bar while you wait. We stayed home tonight. Mike made Salmon in the Nuwave and we had veggies with it. Truthfully I enjoyed it more then the breaded white fish and didn't miss the fries at all. I did miss the "going out" part. I just don't trust myself yet...maybe in later cycles it will be easier.

Breakfast: I had a 2 egg omelet with onions, mushrooms and spinach in it. A bowl of mixed berries.

Lunch: I had left over chicken breast from last night with veggies. Lets not for yogurt for a snack. This is the first day I didn't get two servings of probiotic's in.

I will have to take a picture of a egg pan I found at Bed Bath & Beyond. It makes making my omelet fast and easy with clean up a snap.

Cycle 1 Day 11

I know some people have a problem getting in the required amount of water. That is not a problem with me. What I am having a problem with is not have my McD's S/F Vanilla Ice Coffee (my crack habit) I think that is what caused my severe headaches I suffered from the first week. I decided I would have one a week...and just a medium size.  I used to get at least one large a day. I am not only saving calories but money!

For supper Mike made boneless skinless flatten chicken breast stuffed with mushrooms, onions and FF cheese. He used our new Nuwave oven...don't they look yummy?
He served it with broccoli sprinkled with olive oil ...and the stuffed chicken breast topped with some marinara sauce. It was so good...3 forks up.  The Nuwave oven really does keep the meat nice and tender and juicy.
Breakfast: I had a yogurt with mixed berries for breakfast along with green tea supplement.

Lunch:  Spinach salad with turkey (from last nights dinner) and lets not forget the water.

Cycle 1 Day 10

I was not going to blog about this diet...because frankly I have done it before..been there done that. I always start with good intentions and tons of enthusiasm. The pounds start to come off...I post pictures of my food choices and progress. Then when I get sick of either counting points, carbs, calories, fat, sugars...I put the weight back on and with that weight the blog falls to the wayside. I started this new diet call "The 17 Day Diet" on Feb 14...yup..Valentines Day. My hubby (Mike) and I decided to do this together. I ordered the book (read what was involved in the first of what are 4 cycles)

We cleaned out the refrigerator and freezer.  Went grocery shopping and purchased the items we needed to get started. We have been on the diet 10 days and both have enjoyed a weight loss.  Mike lost 9.5 lbs and myself 8 lbs.

I guess I should give you some history...I am 53 and in the middle of menopause and have gained weight around my middle and I HATE IT. I hate feeling uncomfortable in my jeans. I hate looking in my closest and thinking...what will fit me and not make me so hot...because frankly the hot flashes are driving me crazy. I am hoping that changing my habits to healthy ones will improve not only my waistline, but get these hot flashes under control.

Mike just turned 60...he is officially a senior. OMG...how did that happen? He has high blood pressure which is controlled with meds  As with me...he has gained weight over the years, but of course not for the  same reasons..LOL

I decided to blog about this diet...because I feel like this could be the one. One that will work...one that we can live with...one that will be easy to stay on with we eat-out....one that can teach us the lifestyle changes that will ensure us a happy and healthy retirement years. I am going to post pictures of our meals..I guess it is my way of keeping a journal. I am going to try different recipes and I will rate with a "fork" up or down.  I will only give my starting weight once I reach my goal weight. I am not going to focus on that right now...it's to soon. Right now...it's all about sticking to these new changes and how it is going to impact our life for the positive. So here we go.....Tonights challenge was to make my own dressing. Because frankly the FF dressing are lacking in flavor. I started with my required friendly fat -olive oil...added some white wine vinegar, Dijon mustard and a spinkle of Splenda and gave it a little whisk.I wish I would have had some poppy seeds to add to it..(note to self..add it to the shopping list) My salad consisted of Spinach-Turkey- Tomatoes-FF Cheese- Mandarin Oranges-Red Peppers-Mushrooms. One taste and I was hooked. I will be whisking my own dressings from now on. I know what is it...and more importantly  what is NOT in it. I look at the labels and I don't know what most of the things listed are much less pronounce them.
